Several current and former student researchers from the UW–Madison Department of Biochemistry have received National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program awards. The five-year NSF GRFP program includes three years of financial support and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions.
The 2022 class of fellows includes:
- David Beier, a former Hoskins Lab undergraduate and a current graduate student at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
- Allison Schiffman, a former Landick Lab undergraduate and a current graduate student at the University of California Los-Angeles.
This year, honorable mentions went to:
- Stephen Early, a former Kiessling Lab undergraduate and a current graduate student at Harvard University.
- Lauren Mazurkiewicz, a second-year UW–Madison Integrated Program in Biochemistry (IPiB) graduate student in the Weeks Lab.
- Rohith Rajasekaran, a second-year UW–Madison IPiB graduate student in the Coyle Lab.
- Johanna Virta, a former Butcher Lab undergraduate and a current graduate student at the University of California-San Francisco.
- Gina Wade, a second-year UW–Madison IPiB graduate student in the Simcox Lab.
