Ron Raines has been named a 2004 recipient of the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award by the American Chemical Society. The Cope Scholar Award is given to recognize and encourage excellence in organic chemistry, and consists of $5,000, a certificate, and a $40,000 unrestricted research grant. Raines has won several other national awards for his research on protein chemistry/biology, including the 1998 Pfizer Award in Enzyme Chemistry from the American Chemical Society and a 2001-2002 Guggenheim Fellowship.
