Korana Parivar

As a Khorana scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, you will not only have the opportunity to work in a cutting edge research facility and learn invaluable scientific knowledge from this experience, but you will also become part of a close knit community with the other Khorana Scholars. During your stay in Madison you will live in one of UW’s cozy dormitories situated on beautiful Lake Mendota with your fellow scholars. Past participants have thoroughly enjoyed cooking meals together in the dormitory kitchen or exploring the city together while not in the lab. Scholars have found that their shared passion for scientific knowledge also creates an enduring bond that will last far beyond the end of the program. They have come to look at their fellow Khorana Scholars as a family, and refer to one another as their ‘Khorana Parivar.’

“The moments of cheer by the  Lakefront, at the Union Terrace or at Babcock Dairy meant much more than some bright young minds having the time of their lives. It provided a perspective both in terms of the diversity of the group of my Khorana Program batch-mates, and also in terms of finding like minds.” - Jishnu Das, IIT, Kanpur.

“A marvelous lab with a cheerful and friendly Professor, a home away from home with the “Khorana Parivar”, cooking together at night, ice-cream at the Babcock Dairy store, every moment is etched evergreen in my memory. It is no exaggeration when I say; this was the best internship ever in my life - so well organized and such a hospitable University hosting a bounty of knowledge for us.”  -
