Lab Safety Checklists
The Laboratory Visit Program is an educational and advisory opportunity designed to improve the overall safety of campus laboratories. The program utilizes the expertise of UW-Madison’s Environment Health & Safety (EH&S) Department to identify potential safety hazards and to raise the level of awareness of Principal Investigators (PIs) and lab staff on the safety and regulatory requirements for their specific labs. It is also an outlet for faculty, staff and students to bring their questions and concerns to EH&S staff.
The Laboratory Safety Visit Checklist that will generally be used for a lab visit is available on the EH&S Chemistry Lab Visit page. There also is an explanation of checklist items available on that page.
If your lab's research is covered in a biosafety protocal then you may receive an EH&S "Outreach Visit". Information about these safety visits, including a Biosafety Self-Assessment Survey, is available on the EH&S Biology Lab Outreach page.
