Automated External Defibrillators

The Department of Biochemistry has purchased two Powerheart AED G3 Automatic automated external defibrillators (AED). The AED automatically analyzes the patient’s electrocardiogram through defibrillation pads applied to the patient’s bare chest. If a shock is required the AED instructs the operator to press the button to deliver a shock. The Powerheart AED G3 Automatic automatically delivers a shock if needed. The AED uses a single button and guides the operator through the rescue using a combination of voice prompts, audible alerts, and visible indicators. AEDs are located in the Biochemistry Laboratories, 3rd floor, at the entrance to the bridge and in the Biochemistry Building, 2nd floor, entrance to the bridge (heart signifies location on building map).
