Autoclave Testing
Each autoclave in the Department of Biochemistry will be tested monthly using both a chemical (strip) and a biological test (spore vials), and the results posted here. Any unit that does not pass is taken out of service until repairs are made and is retested and passes.
The two indicators used in testing are the following:
Sterile Check 5, Steam sterilization class 5 integrator
Sterile Check, Self-contained biological indicator containing Geobacillus Stearothermophilus Spores, incubated for 24hr.
